  • Why should I consider joining PWFL?
    Professional women continue to face career challenges in the work place. According to Jillian Donnelly of Careerwomen.com/The Career Exposure Network, "Women are still facing challenges when it comes to career opportunities and advancement. The responses and the comments from [our 2010] poll make it very clear that women have to look very hard for advancement opportunities and make it a priority." By joining our organization you become an important citizen in a community of professional women who thrive on building the support, education and network necessary for career advancement.


  • What is the cost of membership?
    Although many organizations charge annual dues in the hundreds, PWFL has made a commitment to make membership affordable. The annual dues for joining are only $59 per year.


  • What professions are represented among the membership?
    Diversity is the key to our success. Our members come from many places and many professions. You'll find professional women involved in banking, law, accounting, civil service, social work,graphic design - as well as a rich collection of business entrepreneurs, artists and retired but very active community volunteers.


  • What are the steps to membership?
    From this website, simply download and complete the MS-Word application. Then mail your completed application and annual dues to Professional Women of the Finger Lakes, P.O. Box 423, Canandaigua, NY 14424-0423.


  • Once I send in my application, what happens next?
    Upon receipt of your application and dues, a membership committee member will contact you within five working days to follow up and get you involved.


  • When are the meetings?
    Schedules vary with every member, so PWFL attemps to schedule meetings and events around a variety of times and dates. Watch for posted events on our website.


  • Is PWFL recognized as a local area organization?
    The reach of PWFL is recognized more as a regional organization rather than just the Canandaigua area. Members live in Farmington, Avon, Geneva, Victor and Canandaigua. There is no regional restriction on membership. PWFL is open to all professional women.


  • What committees could I join?
    There are many committees to choose from. Go to the "About Us" page and look for the "Committee" tab. There you will find a list of the committee chairs and the members participating on each committee. Below are some examples of our committees. Finance, Membership, Program, Public Relations, Scholarship.
